Wrapping Furniture

The following technique can be applied to any item of furniture.

Getting started

Remove the contents and any removable drawers to make it easier to carry.

Keys or screws

Tape these to the item, make sure you do it on an area that has no varnish or paint, as it may affect the finish.

Wrapping

Place the item on to a large sheet of packing cardboard.

Loosely tape the card in place, pay attention to corners as these are the most vulnerable, a marker can be used to highlight any particularly fragile areas.

Securing the card

Using shrink wrap film, go around all the furniture at least 3 times. Every so often stretch the shrink wrap about 10%. This will hold the card in place and make the furniture easier to cover.
